Megan + Elliot || DUMBO || Brooklyn, New York || Engagement Photography
Oh. My. Gosh.
Those are pretty much my only words to describe this session. I was planning a vacation to New Jersey to visit some family, when I thought it'd be a great idea to take a quick trip to the city (especially because I had never been). I contacted Megan to let her know I'd be in town, and that I'd love to see her while I was there. Instead of just planning to hang out, we started planning a PROPOSAL. Yes, you read that right. Megan is seriously one of the most amazing gals I have ever met. I need more lady proposals in my life, because #sheputaringonit.
To make it a surprise, we told Elliot that I was dying to take pictures of a couple in New York City (which I was) and that is was just a fun thing to add to my portfolio. Little did he know that Megan and I had been spending our time discussing proposal ideas, picking out rings, props, and outfits!
Here are my favorite pictures from the first half of our session, I'll continue the proposal story below!
Alright, here's the good part!
Megan and I started brainstorming ideas and locations. I'm unfamiliar with New York City, so I sent her a picture of a location I really liked. Ironically, she told me the location was called DUMBO (down under the Manhattan Bridge overpass) and that her and Elliot had had one of their first dates there. From there, the ideas came rolling in! She told me that the date consisted of Elliot teaching her how to skip stones, so she purchased a stone that was engraved with "Elliot..." on one side and "Will you marry me?" on the other. We were a little nervous he would accidentally toss the stone when she handed it to him, but luckily we didn't have that problem - phew! It was the most perfect idea ever, and his reaction was priceless.
OKAY HERE IT COMES. First, she handed him the rock. He read the rock while she pulled out the ring, and he instantly said yes! SERIOUSLY!? The cutest proposal ever. I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING.
Afterwards, we celebrated and got some of the best pizza I've ever had- actually, probably the best pizza I've ever had. Brooklyn pizza. Holy cow.
Congrats again to Megan and Elliot! I'm still so honored to have captured such a special moment in both of your lives.
